Casablanca Lily fertilizer

lily The Casablanca lily is a classic spring bloom that adds natural beauty and fragrance to virtually any garden. These flowers, which are sometimes referred to as Oriental lilies, can grow anywhere from three feet to four feet tall. They feature a unique look with white flowers formed into a bowl shape. Perhaps what’s even more notable is the sweet fragrance this bloom produces. If you want to enhance your garden with the Casablanca lily, here is the how-to guide for success.

1- Find a sunny spot in the garden to plant the bulbs. Make sure you find a place where the soil drains well. Put the bulbs deep in the soil, about four inches deep and a foot apart. Ensure that there is at least four more inches of soil on top of each. Plant before the first freeze of the season.

2- Apply fertilizer over the plants. Be sure to wait at least until you see a stem before you fertilize the plant. You will need to apply more fertilizer once you see the leaves form.

3- As the flowers grow, you’ll need to monitor the moisture levels. These flowers need constant moisture. Run water from the hose until there is about six inches of wet soil.

4- Lock in moisture by spreading organic mulch on the soil and around the plants. You could use natural materials like straw, pine needles, or leaves. Be sure to remove all mulch prior to spring.

Once your lilies have fully bloomed, be sure to take the following steps to ensure a healthy environment for your plants. You’ll want to prevent your flowers from getting damaged by aphids, so buy lady bugs, which are a natural repellent for aphids. If you live in a climate that sees a lot of rain, you’ll want to use a complete fertilizer on the plants every so often.

The farm and garden side of CL is a good place to advertise a trade. This forum is intended as a place to exchange information. In Seattle, we have a large group of people who belong to the "Freecycle Network," which has an online structure in place for helping people give away and receive items, all for free (no trades). Try Googling "freecycle network" with your city name. Also, people post the plants they have and the plants they want on "Dave's Garden," and I often see notices about them in the "PlantFiles" section of that website. What I do is Google "PlantFiles Oriental Lily Casablanca" or some other plant name to learn about the plant, and if it's available as a trade
